Festival of Wind and Brass -
The splendid Pamoja Hall at Sevenoaks School in Kent was the
venue for a spectacular concert lead by MD Jonathan Crowhurst.
The band took the stage for the second half of the concert that
included a performance of 'Seascapes' by Ray Steadman-Allen
which was the Test Piece for the 1988 National Finals at the Royal
Albert Hall and was the first time Redbridge Brass qualified the finals
conducted then by Graham Chambers. The band still has four
players who were in the band all those years ago!
The concert also featured the Maidstone Wind Symphony, and
special guest soloist Matilda Lloyd.
Moonlight and Romance
A fantastic concert programme included Beethoven’s iconic Moonlight Sonata and Debussy’s Clair de Lune
played by guest soloist, concert pianist and teacher David Silkoff.
David demonstrated his mastery on the piano creating beautiful cascades of sound, a rare opportunity to
hear these works performed in such style.
Talented violinist Chris Karwacinski, who also plays tuba for the band, showed his fine musicianship with
Massenet's Meditation and a splendid Tango by Gardel accompanied by the band. With music from Rimsky
Korsacov’s Scheherzade, Wagner’s romantic opera Lohengrin and the beautiful Girl with the Flaxen Hair plus
more contemporary music like Michael Buble's Cry Me a River featuring Dave Wallace on trombone.
